Service Projects

Andean Discovery organizes and contributes to service projects that preserve the natural environment and benefit rural communities in Ecuador and Peru.  Our travelers are welcome to participate in any of these rewarding service projects, affording you the opportunity to travel in non-touristy areas.  Our friends in indigenous communities throughout these countries are eager and grateful to welcome foreigners into their communities and to engage in cultural exchange.

Service Projects include:

• Painting a community center
• Building a school classroom or library
• Educating children about nutrition and balanced diets
• Assisting an animal rescue & rehabilitation facility
  
• Teaching English to children
• Reforestation and eradication of introduced species in Galapagos

Village Homestay Option
Service projects allow travelers to live with a family, in a school, or in a campsite for several days in a rural, lo-income indigenous community and to work directly with community leaders and children.  During down time, participants may assist their host families with daily tasks, play soccer, and learn how to make local handicrafts.
