Family Village Visit

Visit an indigenous village rarely seen by tourists in the highlands of Ecuador or Peru and have a traditional Andean lunch with one of the families.  Enjoy a walk through the surrounding farmland and learn how your humble indigenous hosts subsist directly from the land by organically growing native crops such as ubilla, maiz, and chochos.  Many communities specialize in handmade crafts using ancient techniques that have been passed down for hundreds of years.  You may see a demonstration of how artisans use local materials to make beautiful pieces of artwork such as woven and embroidered clothing, sandals, beads, and bracelets.
